Description
Extremely rare, post-war, late model East German made Carl Zeiss Jena 5cm f/1.5 T LTM lens. Unique internal mechanical construction.
Mechanics: Fully ultrasonically cleaned. Exterior parts multi-stage polished. Internal helicoid CNC modified to permit closer RF coupled 0.7m minimum focus distance. These lenses normally can’t be modified to focus below 1m due to helicoid limitations. However, this post war east german helicoid design deviated from the more typical designs, and appears to have been built to higher mechanical standards than the typical 5cm f/1.5 Sonnars. Even the brass optical block had unique designs to it we’ve not sen before. These non-standard designs permitted us to modify it for 0.7m MFD. This is the only known 0.7m MFD capable Carl Zeiss Jena 5cm f/1.5 LTM we are aware of.
New synthetic greases used inside aperture control and helicoid system.
LTM to M adapter: 6-Bit Coded
Brass sub optical block.
Optics: Excellent/ mint condition for age. There is the usual micro air bubbles inside from usage of early German Schott glass. Aside from the air bubbles, optics appear near mint, one of the best condition copies we’ve ever seen. Would advise using a front filter at all times to continue to protect the front element. The formula is very sharp wide open, everything seems to be unique and at a higher quality grade then usual with this specimen, optical performance included.
Lens includes:
Rear M Cap
Front push on front metal cap
