Carl Zeiss Jena 5cm f/2 ‘Single coated’ Sonnar – All Brass – Leica RF conversion

Out of stock

This is a chrome plated, all brass, custom made lens by Skyllaney Opto-Mechanics, Scotland.

Some marks mostly on the front element.
Optics are one of the highest recorded MTF value Sonnar we have tested (out of over 100+ sonnars).
It was one of ‘three’ optical reference specimens used to develop our upcoming Bertele lenses.

The 5cm Sonnar was retained in its original CRF housing, and integrated into a bespokely-made LTM housing. Unlike other LTM Sonnar lenses which are aluminium, this one is all solid brass and built to very high standards. It has received various custom made parts done by us, such as brass helicoids, focus down to 0.5m, maintains full RF coupling with rangefinder cameras from 0.67m to Infinity.

It is one of the nicest body conversions we have made, and served as one of the reference prototype while developing our Bertele lens.

The body has some minor marks and wear on the outer mechanics.

The focus is buttery smooth, and the lens is RF coupled down to 0.67m MFD.

It comes with front clear filter, and front and rear metal caps.

This is a one off creation that supported development of out Bertele project to see what a full brass sonnar lens would be like in usage, and we will not be making another one like this.

For those who may already own a Sonnar, and wonder what a high MTF performing copy of the lens is like, this is it. It is sharper then 99% of the Sonnars out there, and became a benchmark lens our Bertele optics had to target.
