Description

This is a conversion of the W-Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 lens for originally the Nikon-S rangefinder cameras system.  These lenses have beautiful bokeh and focal transitions, combined with their vibrant colours.  See a variety of sample images in the gallery using the Leica M9 and M11 cameras.

Lens has been expertly converted using an all brass helicoid NK35-18 Omnar lens body, which is custom made for these W-Nikkor lenses.  The lens is able to focus down to 0.35m MFD, and is RF coupled from 0.65m thru Infinity.

The finish of this lens is black matte with antique brass highlights.  This particular specimen, is using the alternate body design for the NK35-18 lenses.  Unlike the other NK35-18 lenses that used straight knurling, this one uses a bespoke rope knurling design on its focus ring.  The aperture control ring is also antique brass with white fonts.  A S44.5 UV filter is included with the lens (the filter has a few minor marks from age/ usage – as it is vintage and came to us on the optics when it first arrived).  A push on metal A45 cap is also supplied, as is a rear metal M cap.  Lastly, we’ve sourced and modified a Hoya 43mm ventilated hood to match the lens which helps control any unwanted flaring.  The lens has our medium focus feel, most similar to the feel of the 35mm Summilux (Non-ASPH).

The optics are in excellent condition and scratch free and haze free.  Note, as in most of our conversions, the optics are being reused and repurposed from their original housings into our new mechanical bodies.  We strive to get the best optical specimens of each lens in for these type of conversions.  Still, due to  the fact that these lenses date back to the 1960’s, there may be some micro marks or tiny dust specks that we can’t fully remove when servicing and converting the lenses.
