The lens has been extensively overhauled, and has a variety of new brass parts designed and fabrcated for it.  It now focuses down to ~0.9m (3 feet) with RF Coupling (previously it was 1.05m (3.5 ft) as stock), the helicoid has been CNC modified to do this. Original locking focus nub was removed from the lens.

The idea was to have both Leica and Zeiss RF mechanical design cues, along with a finish to match the black M cameras.  Hence, a new brass focus tab and winged aperture ring were created for this purpose.  The finger tab is our brass take on the Leica Summilux V2 tab, while the new aperture control ring is based off the winged design found on the old Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar lenses.  Lens is a one-off creation to see just how far we could take this project to do something unique.

The original chrome plating was stripped off the lens, and a new Satin Black finish, with white fonts applied.  The lens also has light selective pre-brassing areas to give it some vintage character.

Optically, the lens has been re-centered and is the sharpest copy of this lens we’ve seen out of 19 different Nikkor 3.5cm f/1.8 lenses we’ve worked on over the last few years.

There is a few very faint coating marks on the rear element, which we struggled to photograph, and mention here for the sake of describing the lens as accurately as we can.  The optics are in better condition than 95% of the Nikkor 3.5cm 1.8 lenses we’ve seen, the images the lens makes are simply stunning.

There are the usual micro air bubbles in the rear element, which all copies have due to the glass composition type for this element.

The entire lens was fully dismantled, parts being repainted were bead blasted for new finish prep.  The rest of the mechanics were ultrasonically cleaned. After the new parts and CNC modifications were done to the mechanical parts, the entire lens was built from the ground up with new greases.

The lens comes with the Nippon Kogaku Tokyo branded Nikkor 3.5cm 1.8 cardboard box, and Nippon Kogaku leather case.

The lens also includes a E43 metal UV filter on the front, and has a rear metal M cap and metal front push on cap.
