The Skyllaney Opto-Mechanics MkII conversion of the classic CY 50mm f/1.4 Planar T* is now available.

The first batch of lenses is currently on it’s way to customers who had pre-ordered them. There will be a few lenses left over from batch 1. They will be available for sale on our Ebay store.

We are now opening pre-order requests for the second batch of Planar lenses.

Simply fill out our pre-order request form with your information and choices. After submitting a pre-order request you will be sent an invoice for 50% deposit for the lens. This reserves your lens slot, choice of imperial font colour and leatherette insert choice.

Batch 2 (the next 25 lenses) will be a mixture of:

  • Converting the customer’s existing Planar lens.
  • Buying a pre-converted one from us.

If you will be sending you Planar to us for conversion for Batch 2, it is imperative that it arrives at our office in England by 15th of November, 2020. Any Planars that arrive after this date, may miss the end of year window to be returned back once completed.
Your existing Planar must have no fungus, no oil on the aperture blades, and be in good, usable condition. We cannot accept Planars for conversion at this time that need a service to get them working, such as haze, fungus or mechanical issues.

Batch 2 Planars are expected to ship second week of December, just in time for the holidays. We are ensuring all lenses from Batch 2 arrive with our EU customers before the end of the year, so there is no unexpected customs charges levied due to the United Kingdom leaving the European Union on 1st of January, 2020. This is the reason for a cut-off date if you will be sending your copy in for conversion.

The orders will be completed on a first come first served basis.

Batch 3 will subsequently be ready by March of 2021. All customers for batch 3 lenses will receive their invoices around that time.

Since every Planar conversion is hand assembled, converted and calibrated here in England, there is limited capacity for how many can be delivered for the 2020 Holiday season.

Pricing:

Commissioning of a Planar conversion to be created (we supply the lens) £1249 plus shipping.
(includes your choice of synthetic leatherette option, free of charge)

Sending in your existing (working condition) Planar for conversion £999 plus shipping.
(includes your choice of synthetic leatherette option, free of charge)

Napa genuine leather, composite black/white snakeskin, composite black/red snakeskin – £15 extra.

*Please note: We convert used Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 T* Planar lenses for CY mount. The availability of these lenses in various conditions is always a factor. We only sell converted Planars that have excellent to mint condition glass. Any Planars that have fungus, haze, oil on the aperture blades or scratches, are not fit for conversion. However, there may be small cosmetic blemishes on the front exterior body, as these lenses are over 30+ years old. In most cases, we refuse to sell converted lenses that have unsightly aesthetic parts on any of our custom offerings. However, they may have small nicks in the anodising, minor dust inclusion, or other minor cosmetic marks, simply due to the fact it is no longer possible to procure them new.
